Inside the book there are various sound and video recordings indicated by the above thumbnail. Here you can watch and listen to these recordings corresponding to the book’s named and numbered references.

1-void

The song «Δεν είμαι αυτός που θες» (I am not the one you want), by Ενδελέχεια, is played by speakers that are progressively played at distances of 32, 16, 8, 4, 2 and finally 1 meter away from the microphone. A noticeable change in sound pressure level appears when the distance is doubled.

2-Niche

In the ancient agora of Messene, a camera moves towards a “Π” shaped niche. When the camera is out of the niche’s range, a barely noticeable noise is heard. When it enters its range, a small surprise can be heard. The subtle sound of water fills the space.

4-Street

The song «Δεν είμαι αυτός που θες» (I am not the one you want), by Ενδελέχεια is played by speakers 4 meters away from the microphone. The speakers are placed in different positions inside the Atrium of NTUA Architecture School, in Athens.

5-Circle

In the circular shaped Arcadic gate in Ancient Messene, the song «Δεν είμαι αυτός που θες» (I am not the one you want), by Ενδελέχεια is played by speakers 12 meters away from the microphone. The speakers are placed in different positions inside or outside the gate.

6-Inside-outside

The song «Δεν είμαι αυτός που θες» (I am not the one you want), by Ενδελέχεια is played by speakers 4 meters away from the microphone and recorded in different spatial configurations in the court of the 9th Elementary school of Kareas. The recordings were made during a series of lessons on architecture for children called “The A of architecture”. We realize that the “inside”, even if it is “outside”, enhances the human voice.

7-1-Void

Two speakers play simultaneously different parts of the song “Τσίχλα” (Gum). One part is played through the left speaker and one through the right speaker. The recording is made in plain space (in a void) in order to calibrate the mixing of the two parts, that are later played in different spaces in the following videos.

7-2-Void

Two speakers play simultaneously different variations of a Tarantella. The one on the left plays “Tarantella Pizzicarela Mia” by Encardia and the one on the right plays “Tarantella Pizzica Nova” by Ghetonia. The recording is made in plain space (in a void) in order to calibrate the mixing of the two parts, that are later played in different spaces in the following videos.

8-1-Facing Corners

Inside a garage, two speakers play the recording appearing in the previous video (7-1-Void: the two parts of the song “Τσίχλα”. They are placed in two facing corners. The two speakers are heard simultaneously in all places, sounding like a duet. Reverberation slightly reduces this effect.

8-2-Facing Corners

Inside a garage, two speakers play the recording appearing in the previous video (7-2-Void: the two different Tarantellas). They are placed in two facing corners. The two speakers are heard simultaneously in all places, sounding like a duet. Reverberation slightly reduces this effect.

9-1-Sloping roof

Outside a small chapel, two speakers play the recording appearing in the previous video (7-1-Void: the two parts of the song “Τσίχλα”). They are placed inside and outside a porch, which is covered by a sloping roof. Positioning was diagonal. Inside the porch sound is filled by reflections of the roof and surrounding walls and is distinctly separated by the outside space, thus creating a sense of enveloping “insideness”.

11-Kalavryta

The camera moves from the entrance towards the center of the monument, makes a full rotation and, finally, reveals the speakers behind the wall. In the beginning only a buzz is heard. After entering the monument, the narration is clearly heard, because sound is reflected back into the center by the surrounding walls.
